Highly Recommended Photography Books and Gear
Now I won’t be putting photography book and photo gear links here that I won’t read or use myself. Most of them are in my library. Yes, these are affiliate links (meaning if you buy from these links, you’d also be helping me). I’ve personally read some of these photography books and they’ve all helped me in my journey towards becoming the photographer I wanted to be. They’re all inspiring. And very practical. I’m sure you’d find these photography books helpful, too. Simply click the link that interests you and it will take you straight to Amazon where you can read honest and actual reviews of real people. And as learning doesn’t stop by reading a book or set of books, I will be adding new ones to this list, so be sure to bookmark it. On the other hand, if you’ve read a book that had helped you in your image making journey, send it to me and maybe I can add it, too. Happy reading!
I swear by the techniques taught in these books:
- Strobist Photo Trade Secrets Volume 1: Expert Lighting Techniques (One-Off)
- The Hot Shoe Diaries: Big Light from Small Flashes
Books from my favorite photographer and inspiration, Joe Mcnally:
- Sketching Light (Voices That Matter)
- The Moment It Clicks: Photography secrets from one of the world’s top shooters
If not for David Hobby and his techniques, I’d still be using hot lights.
Like David Hobby and Joe Mcnally, I’ve learned a lot from this guy:
The cameras I use today:
- Nikon D7000 16.2MP DX-Format CMOS Digital SLR with 3.0-Inch LCD (Body Only)
- Nikon D90 12.3MP Digital SLR Camera (Body Only)
Did I mention I also use Canon?
If enough people will hire me, I think I’d be able to afford all these gear
- Nikon D3S 12.1 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with 3.0-Inch LCD and 24fps 720p HD Video Capability (Body Only)
- Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II AF-S Nikkor Zoom Lens For Nikon Digital SLR Cameras
- Nikon 200mm f/2G AF-S ED VR II Nikkor Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras
